Capital - Major Projects

The District of West Kelowna plans and implements strategic investments in infrastructure that will benefit the community for decades to come.

Projects must be weighed carefully each year. Council must balance infrastructure priorities, which include new projects and upgrades or replacement of aging equipment and systems, with the municipality's ability to pay, reasonable taxation levels and the need to build reserves.

2013 PROJECTS

Council has provided early budget approval, allowing the following Capital Projects to proceed this year:

• 2013 Road Rehabilitation Program - $1 million
• 2013 Pedestrian Improvement Program - $250,000
• Brown Road Streetscape (Westbank Centre Revitalization) - $2.1 million
• Casa Loma Drainage Improvements - Phase 2 - $700,000
• Gellatly Boat Launch - South Retaining Wall Upgrades - $120,000
• Gellatly Dog Beach Fence - $13,500
• Gellatly Road Design - Boucherie to Carrington - $300,000
• Gellatly Road Upgrades - Phase 3 - Angus Drive to WFN boundary - $2.95 million
• CNR Wharf Design - $157,000
• Jim Lind Arena Renovation - $1.45 million
• Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre Structural Upgrades - $250,000
• Memorial Park Upgrades - $180,000
• Westbank Cemetery Upgrades - Phase 1 - $500,000
• Westlake Road Design (Hwy 97 to Sunview) - $220,000

In addition, the following projects are being carried over from 2012:

• Bulk Water Station - $99,000
• Faulkner Creek Lift Station - $908,000
• Sunnyside Reservoir - $1 million
