Service is provided to District of West Kelowna residents in cooperation with BC Transit and other local governments. Terms of the service are covered under an Annual Operating Agreement, which includes conventional transit, HandiDart and Community Bus.

Please visit BC Transit's Kelowna Regional Transit System website for information on:

Buses are operated by First Group Inc. on behalf of the funding partners.

Funding for West Kelowna's Transit System is cost shared between the District of West Kelowna and the Government of British Columbia. The District of West Kelowna works with BC Transit to establish and review routes and levels of service and makes recommendations for Council's consideration for approval.

West Kelowna's system is one component of the larger Kelowna Regional Transit System, which also includes service in the City of Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland, Regional District of Central Okanagan and Westbank First Nation.

Phases 2 and 3 of the RapidBus initiative included expansion into West Kelowna and were completed in August 2014. RapidBus provides express service, along Highway 97, from Westbank Centre to UBC Okanagan.

Westside Exchanges and Stations

Two West Kelowna transit exchanges were constructed: a terminus exchange at Westbank Centre, at Elliott Road and Highway 97, adjacent to Towne Centre Mall and Westridge Shopping Centre; and, an exchange at Boucherie Centre (on Westgate Road and Highway 97), in the vicinity of the Mount Boucherie Community Centre and the West Kelowna Industrial Park. West Kelowna stations are anticipated at Westlake/Hudson. Stations were also added at Westbank First Nation: at Butt Road in the Westbank Hub Shopping Centre area; and, at Westside Road, adjacent to Okanagan Lake Shopping Centre.

Eastside Exchanges and Stations

The Westside system connects into the Phase 1 system on the east side of Okanagan Lake in the City of Kelowna with stops at: The central exchange at Queensway Avenue in downtown Kelowna; stations at Richter; stations at Gordon, adjacent to Capri Mall; stations at Spall, adjacent to Landmark Business Centre and Parkinson Recreation Centre; stations at Cooper, adjacent to Orchard Park Shopping Centre; stations at Leckie, adjacent to Central Park Shopping Centre; stations at McCurdy, adjacent to McCurdy Corner Shopping Centre; and, the terminus exchange at UBC Okanagan campus.

The Kelowna Regional Transit System is committed to the reduction of greenhouse gases. The system was the first in the nation to use Hybrid Electric Buses. The system also uses double decker buses on higher volume routes, alleviating the need to run additional vehicles back to back on the same route. Kelowna Regional Transit buses are also equipped with bike racks allowing users to combine modes of transportation.
